Lemon and sugar?

Whether you’re a pancake traditionalist (crepe style, neatly rolled) or a free spirit (American style, dripping in Nutella and fresh cream) today is the day to seek out and devour your ideal Shrove Tuesday treat.

In case you’ve forgotten why we eat our body weight in eggs, flour and sugar on this day every year, Shrove Tuesday is the day before the first day of Lent – 40 days before Easter. That means if you’re giving up sugar for the coming weeks, this is your last chance to indulge.

If Lent isn’t your thing, there’s another way to restore your good karma; some establishments have decided to use gluttony for good by donating the proceeds from their pancakes to charity.

It’s a win/win really.

Here are eight fine Cork establishments that will be dishing up the goods all day…

THE OYSTER TAVERN

COQBULL

THE MONTENOTTE HOTEL

CORK INTERNATIONAL HOTEL

THE LEMON LEAF, KINSALE

THE CLAYTON HOTEL

HAYFIELD MANOR

JOES AND BROS
